Natural cheese is cheese in its original form – very few, simple additives to control the pH balance, and ultimately, the flavor of the cheese. Processed cheese is just that; processed cheese. Processed cheeses typically begin with natural cheeses blended with emulsifiers, such as oils, whey and additional salt.
At Food Lion, we work with cheese suppliers across the world to provide fine, quality cheese. "Aged” cheese refers to the length of time the cheese is cured.nTypically, the longer the aging process, the cheese will have a fuller, nsharper flavor.mThis is most common in cheddars, which by character are aged:
• Mild Cheddar 1-3 months
• Medium Cheddar 3-6 months
• Sharp Cheddar 6-9 months
• XSharp Cheddar 9 months
Natural cheeses, including specialty cheeses (Brie, Blues, Goat, etc.) are best served at room temperature to maximize the flavor profile. Be sure to take your fine cheese out of the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to serving.
