Father’s Day is just around the corner, so you’re probably making plans for how you’ll celebrate together as a family and let Dad know how much you appreciate him. After all, he’s the household toy fixer, the teller of the best Dad jokes and maybe a self-proclaimed grillmaster.

Although gifts and homemade cards are very thoughtful, family time is really the best gift of all. And here at Food Lion, we believe some of the greatest moments happen when we’re together at the kitchen table. So, for this Father’s Day, treat Dad to a family breakfast to really start the holiday right!

Classic scrambled eggs, bacon and toast is a delicious go-to morning meal, but how about making something special to celebrate? In this blog, we’ve listed four easy Father’s Day breakfast ideas to give you the recipe inspiration you need to whip up a tasty meal for Dad.

Breakfast Fajitas

Father’s Day Breakfast Idea #1: Fajitas

Is taco night his favorite meal of the week? Then, give this recipe a try for your Father’s Day breakfast! Our Breakfast Fajitas recipe is affordable and quick to make, only requiring seven ingredients and taking about 30 minutes to prepare and cook.

To make this Father’s Day breakfast dish, you’ll need tortillas, eggs, bell peppers, onion, olive oil and cubed ham, plus Dad’s favorite toppings. We suggest shredded cheese, avocados, salsa and cilantro; however, sour cream and jalapenos taste great too!

Once you have all of your ingredients, you’re ready to start chopping and slicing your produce. You’ll also need to scramble the eggs and start heating two skillets over medium heat. Sauté the sliced peppers and onions with olive oil, salt and pepper. Then, add the cubed ham to heat through.

In your other pan, cook your scrambled eggs until they are no longer liquid and nice & fluffy. While they’re cooking, make sure to season them with a little salt and pepper as well. Remove from the pan and you’re ready to serve breakfast!

Crispy bacon

Father’s Day Breakfast Idea #2: Flavored Bacon

Our next easy breakfast idea is made for bacon-lovers and takes the simple breakfast meat to the next level! For sweet & spicy bacon, sprinkle brown sugar and cayenne pepper over top prior to cooking. But, be a little light-handed with the cayenne. It’s very spicy and a little goes a long way.

Or for sweet & nutty bacon, you’ll need to sprinkle some brown sugar over top again, as well as chopped pecans and some black pepper. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 to 25 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate or a cooling rack and once cooled, it’s ready to eat.

If you want to make both flavors, try building a Father’s Day bacon breakfast platter and include some regular bacon as well! Then, serve with a side of eggs (the way Dad likes them) and maybe some affordable fresh fruit from your local Food Lion’s produce department

Biscuit Sandwiches

Father’s Day Breakfast Idea #3: Biscuit Sandwiches

A biscuit sandwich board or platter is another tasty Father’s Day breakfast idea. Besides eggs, breakfast meats (like bacon, ham and sausage) and of course, biscuits, here are some other items you may want to include:

  • A variety of sliced cheeses (cheddar, Swiss, American, etc.)
  • Butter
  • Jams & preserves
  • Sliced tomato
  • Chicken tenders

Next, either assemble the sandwiches - without the items in the bulleted list above - and let the family customize their biscuit sandwich, or place everything individually on the platter, serving board or on multiple plates. Then, they can make their own breakfast biscuit creation from start to finish.

Bagel Board, bagels, cream cheese fruit vegetables, strawberries, blueberries, tomato slices, cucumber slices, red onion, deli meat

Father’s Day Breakfast Idea #4: Bagel Board

Get ready to take breakfast to the next level with a bagel brunch board! This Father’s Day breakfast idea combines the classic meat and cheese charcuterie board (typically served for holidays and small gatherings) and breakfast bagels in a new and tasty way. Sound like something Dad would love? Not sure what to include? Use the list below as your bagel board guide! Here’s what we suggest to include:

  • Food Lion bagels from our bakery department
  • Sliced deli meats (like turkey and ham)
  • Sliced deli cheese
  • Bacon
  • Eggs (hard-boiled or scrambled)
  • Butter
  • Cream cheese
  • Fresh produce (like berries, cucumbers, tomatoes and onions)
