What better way to spend those chilly autumn nights than with a warm, toasty beverage that will lift your spirits? Spice things up with these hot fall drinks that will please everyone around the bonfire.

1. Spiced Tea Hot Toddy

This drink not only serves as a fall treat, but can also help you combat the common cold, according to Blue Apron.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 bag of your favorite spiced tea blend
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 ounce of whiskey
  • 1–2 teaspoons of honey (to taste)
  • 2 lemon wedges

Bring water to a boil and insert tea bag, cloves, and a cinnamon stick. Reduce heat and let simmer for 3–5 minutes. Remove tea bag and spices, then pour hot tea into your favorite mug. Add 1 ounce of whiskey, 1–2 teaspoons of honey based on your preference, and lemon wedges. Voila! The perfect spin on one of the most well-known fall alcoholic drinks. You can even enjoy it as a hot spiced tea sans alcohol.

2. Pumpkin Spiced Chai Tea Latte

You can give the classic pumpkin spice chai latte your own personal, homemade touch, as recommended by Maya Kitchenette.

Ingredients:

For spice mixture

  • 1/3 cup ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For drink mixture

  • 2–3 tablespoons of spice mixture
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1 chai tea bag (steep previously for 3–4 minutes)

Start by adding all the spices, pumpkin puree, brown sugar, vanilla, and a pinch of salt into a pot at medium heat. Cook for 3 minutes, or until the brown sugar has completely melted. Remove from heat and let the mixture cool. You can then store it in a mason jar in the fridge for up to 2 weeks and reuse it.

To get started on the latte portion, heat the milk in a saucepan on medium to high heat until it is steaming hot, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to low, and whisk to froth milk. Remove from heat, add 2–3 tablespoons of the pumpkin spice mixture, and whisk into the milk. Pour the pumpkin spiced milk into your chai tea. You can top with some whipped cream, a cinnamon stick, and sea salt for extra flair. This pumpkin spiced chai tea latte is one of the yummiest fall drink recipes out there!

3. Bourbon and Maple Hot Apple Cider

This third drink, borrowed from Freutcake, brings together cider, syrup, and a bit of bourbon.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2–4 teaspoons pure maple syrup
  • 1 ounce bourbon

Heat the apple cider, lemon juice, and maple syrup (2–4 teaspoons to your preferred taste) in a saucepan at medium to high heat. Once mixture starts to simmer, remove from heat and pour into your favorite mug. Stir in a shot of bourbon and add a cinnamon stick, sliced apples, or a cinnamon sugar rim for garnish. This cozy mixture is an easy fall drink staple.
